Eagles Cruise to 6-1 Senior Night Victory Over Trinity

Match Recap:
To close out the home regular season, the Eagles hosted Trinity College of Jacksonville for their 2025 Senior Night! Honoring ten seniors, Nathaniel Hixson, Chris Martinez, Jacob Bundy, Angel Pietri-Garcia, Colin Elms, Reid Rhodes, Branson Phelps, Aaron Gamonal, Tyler Csorba, and Trinity College transfer Odanci Ndayisaba, the celebration set the stage for the annual I-10 rivalry. After the pregame recognitions, the South Region opponents took the field, and the Eagles delivered a statement performance, pulling away in the second half for a dominant 6-1 win on Senior Night.

The Eagles wasted no time, jumping out to an early lead and setting an aggressive tone. Just six minutes into the match, a long throw-in bounced around before finding the foot of sophomore Jackson Clarke, who fired the night's first shot on frame. Despite a fingertip from the Trinity keeper, the ball snuck into the top corner for a 1-0 Eagles lead. As the first half progressed, physicality ramped up in the heated rivalry. In the 33rd minute, freshman Jameson Bryant intercepted a long Trinity pass and immediately pushed the counterattack, threading a perfect through ball to Clarke. Clarke beat both the defender and keeper to slot home his second goal of the night and extend the lead to 2-0. Just three minutes later, Trinity responded with a free-kick goal from the deep corner. At the halftime whistle, the Eagles held a narrow 2-1 advantage.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles showed no signs of letting up. Thirteen minutes into the second half, after a forced turnover, Eric Romero played a beautiful through ball to senior Odanci Ndayisaba, who, in a one-on-one against his former team's keeper, buried his 8th goal of the season to make it 3-1. Just three minutes later, Nicholas Clark subbed into the match and made an instant impact, scoring his first goal of the season within 30 seconds of entering play, curling a shot into the top right corner off a throw-in. The scoring surge continued two minutes later when Ndayisaba found senior Reid Rhodes at the top of the box. After his initial shot was blocked, Rhodes stayed with it and fired the rebound into the net for his first goal of the season, fittingly coming in the final home match of his career.

In a wild four-minute stretch, the Eagles scored three goals to take full control at 5-1. As the match wore on, both teams continued to battle physically, but the Eagles sealed the night in the 78th minute. Clarke sent a perfect ball into the corner for Nicholas Clark, who took on the Trinity defender and crossed it into the box for senior Angel Pietri-Garcia, who hammered home his career-high 5th goal of the season. With over ten minutes remaining, the Eagles controlled possession and ran out the clock to secure the 6-1 victory, with three of the six goals coming from seniors.

What's Next:
Next week, the Eagles hit the road for South Florida to face Florida College and Webber International University in their final two matches of the regular season. With a combined 1-6 historical record against the two programs, the Eagles are eager to close out the year strong with back-to-back road victories and build momentum heading into postseason play.
