Lady Eagles Fall Short in the National Semifinal

Game Recap:
For the fourth time this season, the Lady Eagles faced Toccoa Falls College… this time the stakes were much higher. After a dominant performance in the South Region Championship game, the Lady Eagles looked to continue that momentum and defeat the Screaming Eagles for the third time this season. After a slow start to the game, the Lady Eagles regained the lead just before the half. Unfortunately, the second half did not go the way of the Lady Eagles and they fell to Toccoa Falls 51-62.

After Toccoa jumped out to a quick 4-0 run, the Lady Eagles had to scramble to try and find their footing early in the game. After an 8-1 run to open the 1st quarter, the Lady Eagles were down early and had to find something quickly. As they opened the 2nd quarter down by 11 points, the Lady Eagles played a much stronger quarter and put together an early 7-0 run in the 2nd quarter to reel the game back into their control. While Montse Torres led the run with 7 points, Leah Phelps, Sky Boyd, and Rachel Phelps contributed 6 points a piece in the 2nd quarter. With this performance, the Lady Eagles held a 37-36 lead entering the halftime break.

After 44 combined points were scored between TFC and PCC in the 2nd quarter, the 2nd half only had 40 combined points. As the teams battled for the chance to play for the National Championship, three players fouled out of tonight's game with 50 fouls called and 56 free throws being awarded. Down two starting the 4th quarter, the Lady Eagles needed their offense to come through and make plays to advance to the championship game. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles went 3-21 FG shooting in the 4th quarter and were unable to make it to this season's National Championship. Falling to Toccoa Falls 51-62, Toccoa advances to the first National Championship game in their program's history.
