Lady Eagles Claim the 2024 South Region Championship

Game Recap:
With a buzzer-beater victory over Bob Jones on Friday night, the Lady Eagles had to face the #1 team in the region the Toccoa Falls College Screaming Eagles. With the regular season matchups being split 1-1 the final game would not only decide the season battle but also the South Region Champion! After a blazing start in the 1^st quarter, the Lady Eagles never looked back, and ultimately won the game 71-54.

With the first possession of the game resulting in a Jenna Wolford three-pointer, the Lady Eagles opened the game on an 8-0 run, and they never looked back. With the first quarter score being 21-11, the Lady Eagles established an early double-digit lead and commanded the lead for the entire game. In the second quarter, senior Holland Guisler hit two threes off the bench and provided a 6-point and 3 rebound 2^nd quarter that pushed the Lady Eagles lead to 41-23 at the halftime break.

With an 18-point lead to start the second half, the Lady Eagles had to continue to work in order to secure the Region Championship. In the 3^rd quarter, the Lady Eagles lead got as low as 16 points and as large as 25-points. Although TFC outscored the Lady Eagles in the 4^th quarter, PCC still netted 14 points and swiped 5 steals in the final frame. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Eagles were victorious in their 2^nd straight South Region Championship Title and the 8^th Regional Title in the last 10 seasons.

Leading the Lady Eagles to the championship was the South Region Player of the Year, Jenna Wolford who had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Holland Guisler with 22 minutes off the bench tied her career high with 12 points on 4-8 3PT shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds. While she only scoring 9 points, senior Leah Phelps played a game-high 37 minutes and swiped 2 steals and dished out 2 assists.

What's Next:
With this win, the Lady Eagles have officially punched their ticket to the 2024 NCCAA National Tournament for the 11^th year in a row! While they are automatically entered into the tournament as the Region Champs, their seeding is yet to be determined.
