Eagles Lose a 40 Minute Battle to Undefeated Huntingdon

Game Recap:
After suffering back-to-back losses at home, the Eagles welcomed the Huntingdon College Hawks to their gym for the final game of the semester. Despite trailing by as many as 11 points, the Eagles mounted a late rally to briefly regain the lead in the closing minutes. However, their comeback fell short, as they were ultimately defeated 89-93 by the Hawks.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with nine lead changes in the opening 13 minutes as both teams traded blows. As the half wore on, Huntingdon's depth and pressure began to take its toll on the Eagles. With 7 minutes left, the Hawks surged, going on a 17-4 run that stretched nearly four minutes and flipped a 2-point deficit into an 11-point advantage. The Eagles, however, responded with a small run of their own to trim the deficit to 6 points at halftime, 40-46. Kaiden Pack led the way for the Eagles with 11 points, as the team shot 44% from the field at the break.

Out of halftime, the Hawks looked to put the game away quickly, extending their lead to 10 points early in the second half. But the Eagles didn't back down. Slowly chipping away at the deficit, they closed the gap to just 5 points with under five minutes to play. With 2:30 remaining, Brandtley Koske made a crucial block, followed by a fast-break layup from Liam Gerdts, giving the Eagles a 4-point lead — their largest lead of the game. Despite this late push, the Eagles struggled down the stretch, shooting just 1-for-5 from the field in the final moments. Their defense remained solid, committing only 2 turnovers in the last 10 minutes, but missed opportunities prevented a successful comeback. After a backdoor cut leading to a dunk by the Hawks with 34 seconds left, the Eagles couldn't recover, falling 89-93 to Huntingdon.

What's Next:
The Eagles now get over a month to rest, recover, and prepare for the final 15 games of their regular season. When the Eagles return to Pensacola after their Christmas break, they will be hitting the road from January 9th – January 17th to play five road/neutral site games to open their second semester.
