Lady Eagles’ Late Push Earns the Victory in Campbellsville

Game Recap:
After an overtime thriller last season against CUH, the Lady Eagles and Lady Pioneers faced off in a cross-region matchup on Monday night. After a close first three quarters, the Lady Eagles kicked into high gear in the fourth quarter and extended their 8-point lead into a 30-point victory!

After the Lady Eagles first defensive possession in the game forced a turnover and the first offensive possession led to a made three-pointer, the Lady Eagles were off to the races early. With Jenna Wolford leading the offensive charge, Wolford went 4-6 from the three-point line (12 points) in the 1st quarter… single-handedly outscoring the Lady Pioneers' 11 1st quarter points! With the 2nd quarter scoring being spread amongst six different Lady Eagles, the lead was steadily growing as the teams entered halftime. Forcing 10 first-half turnovers, the Lady Eagles' pressure and tenacity were forcing mistakes from the Lady Pioneers' offense through the first 20 minutes of play.

Entering the third quarter, the Lady Eagles commanded a 44-32 lead. After a combined 17 made field goals through the first two quarters, PCC was held to only 3 FGs in the third quarter of play. Ultimately, being outscored by the Lady Pioneers in the 3rd quarter 13-9. With 10 minutes remaining in the game, and their lead just 8-points the Lady Eagles had to lock in and exhibit a dominant 4th quarter. Forcing 7 turnovers and making 11 FGs, they did just that! With nine Lady Eagles scoring in the final frame and a combined 6 steals, the Lady Eagles were able to outscore CUH 26-4 in the 4th quarter and claim a decisive 79-49 victory.

Leading the team in points, minutes played, and steals Jenna Wolford was a dominant force in the victory… with 25 points, 7 made three-pointers, and 3 steals the senior showed her best stuff through her 33 minutes played. Shooting 62% from the field, scoring 17 points, and grabbing a team-high 9 rebounds, Montse Torres also established herself as a key player in the Lady Eagles 16th win of the season.
