Eagles Lose to Welch College on the Road

Game Recap:
After two tough South Region losses, the Eagles looked to turn their woes around in Nashville on Saturday night. After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Eagles were ultimately defeated for the second time this season by Welch College by a final score of 83-64.

After three lead changes in the first two minutes of the game, both teams knew this game would be a 40-minute battle. After a made three-pointer by Welch with 17:45 on the clock they regained the lead over the Eagles and never gave it up. Although the remainder of the first half varied from a 1-point game to a 14-point lead for Welch, the teams entered the halftime break 36-29 with Welch commanding a 7-point lead. With seven different Eagles scoring in the first half, the story of the half was the 10 first-half turnovers and 10 points-off-turnovers scored by the Flames.

As the teams began the final 20 minutes of the game, the Eagles were able to cut the lead down to just 2 points just 90 seconds into the second half. As the half progressed, the Eagles remained within striking distance throughout the 10 minutes of the half. With the Flames' lead stretching to 10, desperation began to set in as the time ticked down. Getting the deficit to as close as 6 points the Eagles were never fully out of the fight. But ultimately, with 3 three-pointers and 11 free throws made in the final 10 minutes of play the Welch College Flames dealt the Eagles their 13th loss of the season.

With 18 points, Aaron Wagner led the team in both points scored and three-pointers made while Malachi Herbster and Brandtley Koske both totaled 13 points on a combined 11-18 FG shooting.

What's Next:
Monday night, the Eagles will be hosted by the Campbellsville University – Harrodsburg Pioneers for the first time in program history. With an 0-2 program record against the Pioneers, the Eagles look to turn that around and win their first matchup in Harrodsburg.
