Lady Eagles Return to the Win Column with 16 Point Victory

Game Recap:
After a tough loss to start 2024, the Lady Eagles had to find their way back into the win column… and with a 16-point victory over Wesleyan College, that's exactly what they did. After an early back-and-forth battle, the strong performance in the third quarter set the team up for their 12th win of the season.

With the first play of the game being a steal and open shot, the Lady Eagles thought they were firing early on both sides of the ball. But after the first minute and a half of the game went scoreless the teams knew this game would be a battle. After Wesleyan landed the first points of the game, the Lady Eagles quickly turned their deficit to an 8-4 lead. After regaining the lead in the 3rd minute of the game, the Lady Eagles never gave it back. Although the game was close with neither team pulling away in the first half, the Lady Eagles entered halftime with a 28-22 lead.

After the break, the Lady Eagles came out HOT! With a 14-4 run to start the third quarter, the Lady Eagles found a comfortable 16-point lead that would ultimately hold until the end of the game. Although the Wolves were able to nearly outscore the Lady Eagles in the fourth quarter, PCC pulled out the 62-46 win over Wesleyan College.

With her third double-double of the season, Kristin Mentzer led the Lady Eagles with 14 points and 10 rebounds on 5/10 shooting from the field! Tying Mentzer in points was senior guard Jenna Wolford with 14 points and recording her 11th game of the season with double-digits on the scoreboard. With only 8 points coming off the bench from freshman Sky Boyd, the Lady Eagles starters totaled 54 of the 62 points scored tonight.
