Eagles Remain Undefeated Against Columbia College

Game Recap:
Tonight, the Eagles matched up against the Columbia College Koalas for the first time in program history. This was a hard-fought and physical win for the Eagles to remain undefeated in their 2023 season! With three goals scored and the first shutout of the season, the Eagles were able to push their season record to 4-0!

After the teams worked the ball around the field for the first 10 minutes of the game, the Eagles found a counterattack in the 14th minute of the game. Reid Rhodes was able to capture his first goal of the season with a header, with the assist coming from Chase Hawkins with a free kick near the sideline. Although the Koalas handled the majority of the possession in the first half, the Eagles went into halftime holding onto a 1-0 lead.

Just one minute into the second half, Giovanni Pauliello found the back of the net from yet another Chase Hawkins cross. Initially off the head of Goncalves, Pauliello buried the shot into the back of the net giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead with 44 minutes left in the game. With only 17 minutes left in the second half, Niwe Mugeni drew a penalty in the box awarding the Eagles with a penalty kick. Junior Dakotah Barchus stepped up to the penalty spot and netted the game's third goal for the Eagles, giving them a 3-0 lead in the 73rd minute.

With two players (Rhodes and Barchus) scoring their first goal of the season, the Eagles defeated the Columbia College Koalas by a final score of 3-0. This win pushes the Eagles to a season record of 4-0 as they remain undefeated in 2023 and continue their historic run!

What's Next:
Saturday, the Eagles will be in Toccoa Falls, Georgia matching up against the Screaming Eagles for the first NCCAA South Region game of the season! The Eagles look to jump on this opportunity, push their season record to 5-0, and become undefeated in the South Region.
