Little Rain, No Problem - The Eagles Remain Undefeated

Game Recap:
The Eagle's offensive dominance remained durable in their second home game of the season, despite trivial weather conditions moments before kick-off. Coming off of two shutout road victories, the Eagles keep their stainless 6-0 record intact, defeating the Fighting Tigers of Andrews College, 4-0.

Junior Lourenco Goncalves in the 8th minute broke open the scoring column, burying a side volley into the bottom corner off a free kick. To add to his career-high performance, Goncalves also headed in the first goal of the second half in the 47th minute.

"I reminded him early this year that I wanted to see him scoring a lot more this season. And now he is one of our top guys" Coach Liwosz mentioned. "That's what we need out of him at the striker position. Someone who puts the ball in the back of the net and sets up his teammates."

Precise distribution fueled the Eagle's dominant attacking success. Not only was every goal assisted, but many of the Eagles' conversions derived from designed set pieces. Junior Chase Hawkins led as the top distributor and capitalized off a free kick and a corner kick.

"At the end of last season, he [Chase] really was getting sharp with his set pieces. This year he brings in that efficiency that we needed," Coach Liwosz mentioned. "He has been delivering great balls on corners and free kicks, which was a big thing we were missing last year."

Junior Dakotah Barchus, in his first home game of the season, rocketed his second goal of the season, just outside to the goalie box, assisted by Goncalves. Barchus also assisted junior Niwe Mugeni in the 56th minute for his fifth goal of the season. Defensively, Bryce Hammond and the Eagles backline completed their third shutout in a row. Along with limiting the Fighting Tigers offense to six shots for the game (three being on goal), Hammond added three more saves to his season total of eleven.

What's Next:
The Eagles anticipate sustaining their prominent season success next Saturday against Division III opponent, LaGrange College. Continuing their stretch of home games, next Thursday, September 21st the Eagles will host Division II opponent, University of West Florida.
