Lady Eagles Win Their First Home Game of the Season

Game Recap:
After a 1-1 start to the 2023 season, the Lady Eagles looked to win their home opener against the Coastal Alabama Community College Coyotes. After a back-and-forth match, the Lady Eagles pulled out the victory over their NJCAA opponent.

After a back-and-forth 1^st set, the Lady Eagles found themselves down 21-24. But with a rally of serves the Lady Eagles nearly fought back to win the set but ultimately came up short in set #1 26-24. Following the momentum gained at the end of set one, the Lady Eagles gave an incredible performance in set two in which they dominated play and had a decisive victory of 25-16 to tie the match.

After going down early in the first set, the Lady Eagles pulled the set close and tied the score 16-16. The remainder of the 3^rd set became a back-and-forth battle… with the Eagles emerging victorious 26-24! Going into set four the Lady Eagles were in a tight game from start to finish. The teams battled throughout, but the Coyotes put together a five-point scoring run stretching to an 18-14 lead. But the Lady Eagles rallied and came back to tie the set 19-19. To end the match, the Lady Eagles won the 4^th set by a final score of 25-23.

Tonight, sophomore Hannah Romero led the Lady Eagles offensively with 13 kills and 3 aces. While Allie McGuirt also had 3 aces and totaled 6 blocks! Defensively, the Lady Eagles were led by Hannah Romero, Kora Lathers, and Haley Butcher who combined for 43 digs in the four-set match.
