Game Recap:

The Lady Eagles split their first tri-match of the season as they fell to NAIA opponent Crowley's Ridge College. Coming off a 3-0 sweep of William's Baptist, the Lady Eagles had a 30-minute turnaround before facing the host, Crowley's Ridge. The Lady Eagles started strong, going up two sets to none against the Lady Pioneers, but ultimately lost in a close 5th set.

Although the first set started off slowly, the Lady Eagles picked up the intensity and won the first set by a score of 25-16. After another grueling set, the Lady Eagles emerged victorious again 25-19. Then in set three, for the first time all day, the Lady Eagles fell short. After a back-and-forth third set the Lady Eagles found themselves six points away from sweeping their second opponent of the day, but the Lady Pioneers put together a set-ending 8-1 run as they defeated the Lady Eagles 25-20. After an intense third set, the Lady Pioneers came out firing on all cylinders and tallied 15 kills as they took set number four by a commanding score of 25-13.

As the teams entered set number 5, the Lady Eagles started with an early 5-2 lead before a timeout was called by the Lady Pioneers. After the timeout, the teams entered a stalemate of back-and-forth scoring until the Lady Pioneers took an 11-9 lead. At this point, Coach Ohman used one of her timeouts, allowing her team to regroup. After the timeout, the teams once again locked into a scoring duel. The final PCC timeout was called when CRC stretched their lead to 14-11. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles 51 team kills and 10 service aces were not enough to defeat Crowley's Ridge, and the Lady Eagles suffered their first loss of the 2023 season.

Individually, the Lady Eagles were offensively led by the sophomore duo Michaila Kinney and Hannah Romero, who both recorded 12 kills each. Setters Haley Butcher and Kenzie Folker totaled 42 assists while the combination of Hannah Romero, Kora Lathers, and Grace Loo combined for 70 digs!
