The Lady Eagles Are Heading to the National Semi-Final After Defeating North Central University

The PCC Lady Eagles open the 2023 National Tournament with a win over the NCCAA North Region champions! With a dominating 1st quarter, the Lady Eagles pulled out a 62—53 quarterfinal victory over North Central University.

With Jenna Wolford knocking down an open in the first possession of the game, the Lady Eagles were off and running right out of the gate. Firing on all cylinders from the start, the Lady Eagles outscored North Central 24—10 in the first quarter. NCU then quickly came out on a 7—2 run to start the second quarter and furthermore outscored the Lady Eagles 14—17 in that second quarter. However, through the resilience and hustle the Lady Eagles never let the scoring deficit in each quarter keep them from taking the victory.

As a team, the Lady Eagles shot 10/11 from the FT line and 8/15 from the 3PT line. Individually, Leah Phelps led the scoring for the Eagles recording 19 points on 7/19 FG shooting. However, the leader of this quarterfinal matchup was junior Jenna Wolford who totaled 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Tomorrow, the Lady Eagles will face the #1 team in the country, Champion Christian College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM CT, tune into the NCCAA Network and cheer your Lady Eagles through their semi-final matchup.
