Lady Eagles Suffer a Semi-Final Loss to Champion Christian College

The Lady Eagles lost their semi-final matchup to Champion Christian College by a final score of 60—90. Despite a strong 3rd quarter, the Lady Eagles could not mount a comeback after the strong 1st half by the Tigers.
 
To open the game, the Tigers went on a 16—4 run in the first five minutes of the first quarter. As a team, Champion Christian shot 19/34 (56%) from the field and 11/20 (55%) from behind the arc in the first half. Even with a strong 13 point performance in the first half, 1st Team All-American Leah Phelps and the Lady Eagles found themselves down 22—54. Coming out of halftime, the Lady Eagles went on a strong 20—6 run in the first six minutes of the third quarter and outscored Champion 26—17 in the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately, Champion Christian pulled out the victory over the Lady Eagles with five players scoring in the double-digits and knocking down fifteen 3-pointers. The Lady Eagles 21 turnovers and the Tigers 24 points in the paint were two of the main statistics that pushed Champion to their thirty point victory. Although the Lady Eagles suffered the loss, Leah Phelps recorded 25 point and was this semi-finals game leading scorer.
 
Tomorrow, the Lady Eagles season will come to an end as they enter the 3rd place game in the national tournament. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
