Lady Eagles Defeat Bob Jones University to Remain Undefeated in the South Region

The Lady Eagles remain undefeated in South Region play this season as they defeated Bob Jones University, Saturday, February 4, by a final score of 59–55. Even with a slow start to the game, the Lady Eagles pulled off another close victory, winning their eighth game in a row!

The first quarter started slowly for both teams, only scoring 12 total points, but this 9–3 first quarter was not the tone setter for the game. The Bruins went on a 30–15 run in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 33–24 lead. The Eagles then came back with a strong third quarter push, however they could not pull ahead of the Bruins who were still maintaining a lead of 46–38 going into the fourth quarter. But, it was the grit and hustle of the Lady Eagles that propelled them to a fourth quarter score of 21–9. The Lady Eagles pulled to a one-point lead with just 15 seconds left on the clock. After a Bob Jones timeout, senior guard Leah Phelps stole the inbound pass and scored a wide-open fastbreak layup to propel the Lady Eagles to the 59–55 victory! Leading the Lady Eagles, Leah Phelps and Jenna Wolford both totaled 12 points and combined for 10 rebounds. However, the spark off the bench was provided by freshman guard Rachel Phelps who totaled 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Tuesday, the Lady Eagles head to Toccoa Falls, Georgia, to take on the Screaming Eagles in another NCCAA South Region matchup. The game time is set for 5 p.m. Tune in and support your Lady Eagles on the TFC YouTube channel!
