2023 NCCAA South Region Champion, Lady Eagles

The Lady Eagles are the new South Region champions! The Lady Eagles defeated Toccoa Falls College 57—49 in a close and battling championship matchup.

Although Toccoa led for the majority of the game, the Lady Eagles fought till the very end and were able to pull out the victory. Toccoa was led by their guard and forward combination of Jaliyah Howard and Kenya Robinson who combined for 25 of the TFC 49 points. With only 8 seconds left on the clock in the 2^nd quarter Holland Guisler knocked down a clutch corner three to pull the Lady Eagles back within striking distance of Toccoa only down 5 going into the break. With the return of Jenna Wolford, back in the game after some first half foul trouble, the Lady Eagles outscored Toccoa by three in the 3^rd quarter leaving the Lady Eagles only down 2 going into the 4^th quarter. With a similar outcome as the Bob Jones game in the semi-finals, the Lady Eagles outscored Toccoa 18—8 in the 4^th quarter propelling them to an 8 point victory! PCC was once again led by the South Region player of the year, Leah Phelps. Leah was able to record 20 points and grab 4 steals leading the Lady Eagles both offensively and defensively. Another key contributor for the Lady Eagles was junior guard Alissa Brewer who not only recorded 10 points but was able to grab 6 crucial rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

With this win, the Lady Eagles have secured their spot in the 2023 NCCAA DII National Tournament. The Lady Eagles will now await the voting process to determine their ranking going into this tournament. This year, the National Tournament will be hosted in Joplin, MO.
