Lady Eagles Close Out South Region Play with Their Seventeenth Victory

The Lady Eagles pulled out a close, overtime victory against NCCAA DII opponent Southeastern Baptist College. After a close 24—29 first half, the Lady Eagles fought back and forced an overtime and pulled out the 69—64.

After a closely contested and physical first half, the Lady Eagles dominated the third quarter outscoring the Chargers 24—12. However, the Chargers responded in the fourth quarter going on a 9-0 run that lasted nearly two and a half minutes. A clutch three-pointer from Jenna Wolford with just over three minutes remaining ended this Charger run. With 0:50 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, SBC knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game. With neither team able to score in the final seconds, the game was forced into an overtime. With the team's leading scorer Leah Phelps on the bench with 5 fouls, the Lady Eagles got their 9 overtime points from Montse Torres, who recorded 5 OT points, and Carissa Akin who recorded 4 OT points. Offensively, the Lady Eagles were led by junior Jenna Wolford who recorded the first double-double of her career, recording 20 points and 13 rebounds! However, defensively the Lady Eagles were led by junior Alissa Brewer, who aside from recording 18 points, dished off 5 assists and swiped 5 steals from the Chargers.
