Lady Eagles Reach Their Sixteenth Win, Defeating Welch College

The Lady Eagles comeback after their Tuesday loss and defeat Welch College by a final score of 74—65. After a strong first quarter, the Lady Eagles never looked back and took their sixteenth win of the season.

Besides an early 4—5 deficit, the Lady Eagles led for the entirety of this game. The largest lead held by the Lady Eagles was a 13-point lead in the second quarter. Although the Lady Flames were able to cut down their deficit to just three points with 3:20 left in the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles hard work and resilience held out and kept the Lady Eagles in the lead for the remainder of the game. Offensively, the Lady Eagles were once again led by senior Leah Phelps who totaled 25 points as well as dishing out 5 assists. Closely behind Phelps, was the contribution from junior Jenna Wolford who recorded 18 points on 4/7 shooting from behind the arc.

Thursday, the Lady Eagles head for Laurel, MS where they will conclude their NCCAA South Region play against Southeastern Baptist College. Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM CT, be sure to tune in and support your Lady Eagles through their final South Region matchup of the regular season.
