Eagles Lose to Huntingdon College on the Road

Game Recap:
With a battling game ahead of them, the Eagles prepared to face Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. After a tightly contested first half, the Eagles were edged out in their fourth game in a row and fell short of the victory by a final score of 67-78.

With seven lead changes in the first half, the Eagles and Hawks were in an early battle fighting for every bit of momentum they could grab. After hitting his second three-pointer of the half, Blaise Conlon gave the Eagles a 25-19 lead with 7:20 remaining in the first half. Following this shot, the Hawks went on a 19-9 run to end the first half and take a 38-34 lead over the Eagles. With the only two wins of the season coming with the lead at the half, the Eagles knew they had their work cut out for them to try and chip into the deficit and pull out the win.

Less than three minutes into the second half, the Eagles once again tied the game 42-42 with 17:39 left in the game. After today's leading scorer, Malachi Herbster, got a steal and a layup the Eagles regained the lead 46-45 with just under 16 minutes remaining. After Huntingdon scored on the very next possession, they regained the lead and held it for the remainder of the game. Ultimately outscoring the Eagles 40-33 in the second half, the Hawks dealt the Eagles their sixth loss of the season. Leading the Eagles in scoring for the second game in a row is grad transfer Malachi Herbster who totaled 16 points and 9 rebounds on 6-12 shooting from the field. With the starting lineup combining for 59 of the teams' 67 points Herbster, Conlon, Koske, and Gerdts all had double-digit scoring nights against the Hawks.

What's Next:
Friday night, the Eagles plan to put on a show for the 2023 ECI high school tournament and showcase against South Region opponent Trinity Baptist College. Tipoff is at 7:30 PM, come to 'The Nest' or tune into the stream and cheer on the Eagles!
