Lady Eagles Pull Out the OT Win Against the #5 Team in the Nation

The Lady Eagles won against the number five team in the country, Campbellsville University of Harrodsburg. After a slow first quarter, the Lady Eagles rallied together and came back to win 97–92 in overtime.

The Lady Eagles started the game slow, allowing the Pioneers to become confident as they went into the second quarter up by 14 points. However, the Lady Eagles picked up in the second quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 31–18! Through resilience and hard work, the Lady Eagles found themselves in a position to win in the fourth quarter with only 15 seconds remaining on the clock. Jenna Wolford was on the free throw line but was unable to knock down her free throws. However, working hard in the final seconds, the Lady Eagles stopped the Pioneers at the buzzer and forced the game into overtime. With 55 seconds left in overtime, Wolford knocked down a clutch three-pointer and pushed the Lady Eagles to a 93–90 lead! This shot solidified the game but was not the final scoring opportunity for the Lady Eagles. In the last 11 seconds, Alissa Brewer went to the line and knocked down both of her free throws to finalize this hard fought victory!

The Lady Eagles remain undefeated in NCCAA matchups. Once again, sophomore forward Montse Torres found herself in "player of the game" conversations after nearly recording another double-double with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Also, senior guard Leah Phelps had an impressive night, recording 30 points on 15/26 shooting. However, it was junior guard Alissa Brewer who truly led the Lady Eagles to their victory. Brewer ended the night with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists—only the second triple-double in Lady Eagles history!

Next Saturday, January 28, the Lady Eagles head to Greenville, South Carolina, to face NCCAA South Region opponent Bob Jones University for the Lady Eagles' sixth conference matchup of the season. Tune in and cheer on your Lady Eagles as they begin the closing ten games of their 2022–2023 regular season.
