Lady Eagles Drop Two Matches at Home During Tri-Match

The Lady Eagles participated in another tri-match Tuesday night September 13. The Lady Eagles faced off against Itawamba Community College and the Gulf Coast State Lady Commodores. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles walked out of the arena 0-2 on the night. Dropping the Itawamba game by a score of 1-3 and losing the Gulf Coast match 0-3.

After losing the first two sets, the Lady Eagles came into the third set with confidence. Turning the scoring around and giving themselves a chance to win the match. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they were unable to complete the rally and lost the fourth set. However, the story of this match was the historic play by junior setter Kenzie Folker. She was able to break the PCC Lady Eagles school record for most assists. This record was previously held by Piper Bledsoe with 846 assists. In the second set of the Itawamba match Kenzie Folker broke the record, recording 847 assists in her less than three-year Eagles career!

After competing against Itawamba, the Lady Eagles faced off against NJCAA opponent Gulf Coast State College. The Lady Eagles were swept by the Commodores 3-0, with the powerful net-play from Gulf Coast the Lady Eagles were out-killed 46-21. Although the Lady Eagles took the third set to a final score of 27-25, they could not mount a comeback.

This weekend, the Lady Eagles hit the road and head for Tennessee. First stop on the road trip is Fisk University, where the Eagles will take on the Lady Bulldogs at 5:00 PM CT. Then, the Lady Eagles waste no time turning around and facing NCCAA opponent the Welch College Flames at 11:00 AM CT. Be sure to tune in and cheer on your Lady Eagles remotely!
