Lady Eagles Open the Season with a Win

The Lady Eagles volleyball team opened their 2022 season with a dominating win against the Pearl River Community College Wildcats. They took the first set 25–20 and the second 25–21. Junior hitter Victoria Hamilton led the Eagles offensively and defensively through the first two sets with 7 kills and 10 digs. However, the dominating performance from junior setter Kenzie Folker propelled the Eagles to the sweeping victory. Folker led the Lady Eagles with 25 assists and 5 kills—offensively leading the charge in this Lady Eagles victory. Winning the third set by a score of 25-19, the Lady Eagles completed the match sweep over the Lady Wildcats.
 
After the Lady Eagles suffered the loss in their two preseason exhibition and scrimmage matches, the Lady Eagles turned things around by dominating their season opening match. The Lady Eagles' offense proved to be too strong for the Pearl River Lady Wildcats. The Lady Eagles won with a ten-kill lead! They combined for 36 kills along with 33 total assists. Although the team was driven by the offense, the defense did not take a backseat. The Lady Eagles had 46 digs throughout this match, allowing them to completely control both the offensive and defensive sides of the court.
 
Next Friday, the Lady Eagles head off for a weekend road trip. The Lady Eagles play the Mississippi University for Women Owls next Saturday, September 3, at 3 p.m. CT. After the road trip, the Lady Eagles return home for their match with the University of Mobile on Tuesday, September 6.
