2022 Eagles Soccer: Season Sneak Peak

Eagles' soccer opened their 2022 season this past week with Preseason training. Adding twelve new players, this young Eagles team is hungry for competition and ready for the season.

Beginning his seventh season as the head coach of the Eagles, Coach Joseph Liwosz, along with Assistant Coaches Ryan Kennard and Matheus Canada, is preparing to enter the coming season with a drive to win. Although they had an early exit in the 2021 South Region Tournament, the Eagles are ready to take off and dominate the 2022 season.

Coach Liwosz says, "Our team motto that we have carried from year to year is 'The Higher the Fewer' based out of Isaiah 40:31. We hope to use the storms that we experience this season to push us together and make us stronger as a team."

The Eagles lost fifteen total players between the 2021 and 2022 season. The Eagles are looking to rebuild and play with a young but eager roster that can propel them to the regional and national tournaments. Although the Eagles lost players, the experience from senior striker Ked Augustin, defender RaMont Rhodes, midfielder Clint Peterson, and goalkeepers Adam Lund and David Cuevas can lead this young Eagles team to a victorious season. Liwosz said this about his plans for senior leadership this season: "I expect a lot out of my seniors this year. They are all four-year players except for Augustin who is a three-year player. With that, they bring much experience on and off the field." Finding chemistry has been the strength of the Eagles soccer program from the beginning. Since becoming head coach in 2017, Liwosz has had new players and different rosters each year yet still lead the Eagles to victory in two regional and national championships.

The Eagles main goal for this season is reclaiming the region title and securing a return to the national tournament. After missing out on the national tournament in the 2021 season, the Eagles soccer program is ready to reinsert themselves as one of the top teams in the nation.

The Eagles are set to take the field for their first match of the season. This exhibition match will feature the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs this Saturday, August 20, at 12 p.m. They will open their official regular season on the road against Florida College on Thursday August 25, at 7 p.m. Their first game against a NCCAA South Region opponent will be at Trinity Baptist College on September 24, at 3 p.m. The Eagles have a unique schedule this season, playing eight NAIA teams, three NCAA DIII teams, and three NCCAA teams. This will challenge the Eagles and better prepare them for Postseason play!
