2022 NCCAA WVB South Region Tournament Wrap Up

This past weekend, the Lady Eagles participated in the 2022 NCCAA South Region Tournament. The Lady Eagles entered the tournament as the number three seed, with a schedule beginning with number two Toccoa Falls and concluding with number one Bob Jones.

Entering game number one of the tournament, the Lady Eagles were 0–2 against Toccoa Falls. The Lady Eagles started the game strong by winning set number one, however, Toccoa Falls won the next two sets, putting PCC in a hole. But the Lady Eagles dug their way out, winning sets four and five. Dominating the offense, Brittney Hunter recorded 20 kills, allowing the Lady Eagles to dominate the play at the net. Setting her up throughout the set was junior setter Kenzie Folker who recorded 41 assists! This allowed the Eagles to dominate the play at the net and force five sets and defeat the #2 team in the Region.The Lady Eagles' strong play forced five sets and defeated the number two team in the Region. The Lady Eagles began the match with a level of intensity that propelled them to win 3–2!

After winning the semifinal match, the Lady Eagles entered the championship game to face Bob Jones University for the third time this year. Defensively, the Lady Eagles were led by the play of Victoria Hamilton. She was able to record 17 digs in the three-set match. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles were unable to win a set against the number one team in the South Region.

Along with taking second place in the tournament, some of the Lady Eagles players received South Region awards. Winning Second Team All-Region was setter Kenzie Folker and outside-hitter Brittney Hunter. And winning South Region Honorable Mention was Victoria Hamilton, Bethany Gamble, and Allie McGuirt. These individuals led the Lady Eagles through the season with their leadership and play.

With the conclusion of this tournament, the Lady Eagles now await the National Tournament announcement to determine whether they will be heading to the 2022 NCCAA National Tournament!
