Eagles Take Down Tough USCAA Opponent Atlantis University in 2-0 Shutout

The Eagles defeated a tough USCAA opponent Friday night. Atlantis University (8-5-3) is a tough team with great possession and shot accuracy. However, the Eagles proved to be too much for the Atlanteans as the Eagles shut out Atlantis and win by a final score of 2—0.

Tonight, the Eagles were led by senior goalkeeper Adam Lund who recorded 11 saves in this full, action packed 90-minute match. However, it was the offense of the Eagles that led them to this victory. With only 4 minutes to go in the first half, Clint Peterson scored a header from the freekick from sophomore midfielder Chase Hawkins that ricocheted off the head of freshman Branson Phelps. This momentum carried the Eagles through the remainder of the match. But they weren't done there, with only 4 minutes left in the second half sophomore Lourenço Gonçalves found his open teammate Gideon Garcia for the 1-on-1 goal against the Atlantis keeper. This goal sealed the deal as the Eagles win their sixth game of the season.

Tomorrow night, the Eagles will host Toccoa Falls College for senior night. Honoring seniors Adam Lund, Ked Augustin, RaMont Rhodes, and David Cuevas. The event will begin at 7:00 pm with senior recognition followed by a high-paced NCCAA South Region match.
