The Eagles competed against the Edward Waters College Tigers on January 7. The Eagles had faced off earlier in the year against the Tigers and had suffered a huge loss. Heading into the game, the Eagles knew they would have to take the game one play at a time in hopes of being successful.
The Eagles started off the first half strong.
Austin Lewis and
AJ Ward combined for three 3-pointers and put the Eagles ahead 9–0. The Eagles kept the lead until close to the eleven-minute mark, when the Tigers took a 16–15 lead. The Eagles were scoreless for several minutes falling to an 8-point deficit. A jump shot and 3-pointer by
Christian Porter brought the Eagles back within 3 points. The Eagles were unable to sustain the comeback, and, by the end of the half, were down by 9 points, a 13-point improvement from the previous match-up.
The Eagles sustained their play through the first eight minutes of the second half. A few solid defensive plays over the next few minutes by the Tigers took their lead to 23 points. However, the Eagles did not let this keep them down. By the end of the game, they brought the score within 16 points. Although the Eagles had played one of the best games of their season, they still lost 71–87, a 40-point improvement from the previous match-up against the Tigers.
