Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Twenty-Two Point Lead Squandered

The Eagles opened up a 22-point lead going into the locker room at halftime, but saw that lead evaporate through the second half as the Eagles dropped a 72-69 decision to Toccoa Falls Saturday afternoon in Toccoa, GA. Hot shooting by Chance Roberson and AJ Ward from behind the three-point line built the big lead. The Eagles were 10-17 from behind the arc in the first half. The defense was good as well, limiting the Screaming Eagles to 30 percent from the field.

In the second half, however, Toccoa Falls wasn't about to end their regular season without a fight as they came out much more physical, forcing PCC to settle for tougher and deeper shots. PCC could not get dribble penetration or get touches in the paint, limiting their offense immensely. Coach Goetsch had this to say: "Toccoa Falls didn't quit playing good, sound basketball on both ends of the floor in the second half. They kept their heads up when they struggled in the first half. I felt like we had no edge to our play in the second half, and the physicality of Toccoa Falls took us out of rhythm."

The Eagles were led by John Clay's 18 points, Anthony Horton chipped in 13 points, and Chance Roberson added 12 points. The Screaming Eagles were paced by Michael West's 15 points.

NEXT UP: With the conclusion of the regular season, the Eagles now move into NCCAA South Region play beginning next Thursday in Greenville, SC. First opponent will be announced next Tuesday.
