Lady Eagles Volleyball Falls in Regular Season Finale

On October 30, 2020, the Pensacola Christian College Lady Eagles volleyball team played in their final home and regular season game of the year. The Lady Eagles faced off against the Rams, a strong team from the University of Mobile, for the second time this season. The previous match-up had brought a quick defeat for PCC, an outcome that the coaches and players were hoping to change during this game.

The first set was not what the Lady Eagles had hoped for, with the team earning only five kills compared to the Rams fifteen and the final score being 14–25.

The second set brought a vast improvement for the Lady Eagles, as the score depicted the closest match-up of the year (22–25).

Heading into the third set, the Lady Eagles had the momentum. Finishing the set with eleven kills compared to the Rams' seven, PCC was able to win 25–19, winning a set against the Rams for the first time in program history.

The fourth set brought more close rallies between the Lady Eagles and Rams. Although the Lady Eagles bested the Rams in kills for the set (12–11), they were still unable to walk away with a win, losing the set 21–25 and the entire match 1–3.

The Lady Eagles finished the match with a combined 35 kills, 29 assists, and 60 digs. Brittney Hunter led the team in kills with 10. Haley Butcher led the team in assists with 13. Jessica Johnson and Brooke McLeod led the team in digs with 14 apiece.

"We played very well Friday night against Mobile," Coach Ohman stated. "To be able to take one set from them was pretty awesome, since that hasn't been done before. This game prepared us for upcoming regionals. We have been working on each skill to create habits for the high-pressure situations of regionals. We are still a young team with lots to work on but we will b\put in the hard work and keep preparing for the next steps."

The Lady Eagles begin post season play this week with the South Region Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. Keep an eye on the Eagles social media pages for times and updates.
