On November 14, the PCC Lady Eagles basketball team competed against the Johnson University of Florida Suns. Heading into this game the Lady Eagles had won two straight games and were looking to gain their third win and to move to 2–0 in region play.
The Lady Eagles started the game out strong and quickly gained a 9–2 lead. A timeout called by Johnson and a few turnovers by PCC quickly changed the tone of the game, and by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles led by only one point (16–15).
The second quarter was a slow start for the Lady Eagles, and two quickly made baskets by Johnson University caused the Lady Eagles to lose their lead. However, the Lady Eagles would not be defeated and five points by
Lauran Alvarez and an additional 3-pointer made by
Leah Phelps allowed the Lady Eagles to regain their lead. Momentum bounced between the teams for most of the quarter before the Lady Eagles capitalized on a few of Johnson's missed shots. At the end of the first half, the Lady Eagles led 44–34.
Lauran Alvarez and
Sandy McElhaney combined for 24 of the teams points and the team combined for 31 rebounds.
The Lady Eagles started slow in the second half, allowing Johnson to go on a 10–3 run in the first three minutes. The Lady Eagles continued to struggle through the third quarter until an and-one opportunity by
Jenna Wolford began a 16–5 run for the Lady Eagles. The quarter ended with the Lady Eagles leading 66–55.
Starting the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles had several opportunities to score but were unable to get a basket to fall. A basket made by
Leah Phelps was the catalyst for the Lady Eagles gaining the lead. At its highest point, the lead was 15 points. The Lady Eagles won the game 82–75.
PCC had three finishing with 15 or more points each:
Lauran Alvarez (24),
Sandy McElhaney (17), and
Jenna Wolford (15). The team combined for 55 rebounds.
Lauran Alvarez led with 18 rebounds.
