The Eagles faced NCCAA DII South Region opponent Trinity Baptist College tonight on the home court that resulted in a 59-61 loss for the Eagles.

The Eagles struggled from behind the 3-point line in the first half, making only 3 of their 16 shots. The Eagles played solid defense, holding Trinity Baptist to only 34 points in the first half. The Eagles finally found success on offense with less than 3 minutes left till the half, with a 9-3 scoring run to cut the deficit to only 6 at halftime.

The Eagles came back from their halftime break energized with the drive to win. The Eagles managed to come within 2 points of TBC 5 minutes into the second half.
John Clay scored a beautiful reverse layup that gave the Eagles the lead over TBC 36-35! The Eagles held TBC to just 2 points for the first 6 minutes of the second half. TBC managed to find several fouls near the basket that resulted in two made free throws. The Eagles allowed several turnovers that gave TBC a handful of missed scoring opportunities.
With 12 minutes left on the clock and the Eagles down by 3, TBC found an open man under the basket.
Deric Woods kept TBC from getting a free basket by blocking the attempted layup. With the Eagles still down by 3 points,
John Clay weaved through the defense and found a layup. Clay then came back up the court to knock down a 3-pointer, tying up the game, 41-41.
TBC utilized quick ball movement to find several open mid-range shots.
Noah Rawlings answered back with a spin move under the basket, bringing the Eagles within 4 points of TBC. TBC extended their defense to the half-court line and put additional pressure on the Eagles' point guard.

With 5 minutes left on the clock, the Eagles trailed TBC by just 3 points, 45-48.
Noah Rawlings drove through the defensive contact and scored a floater, bringing the Eagles within 1 point of TBC. TBC answered back with a quick mid-range jumper.
Noah Rawlings came back up the court on offense and scored a long-range 3-pointer through contact and went to the line for a 4 point opportunity, tying the game 50-50 with just 4:43 left on the clock. TBC then found several mid-range jumpers and an open three.

Noah Rawlings both popped off a quick 3-pointer, tying the game 57-57 with less than 2 minutes left on the clock.
With 46 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles and TBC were now tied up 57-57. Clay found an open basket and gave the Eagles their second lead of the game since the start of the second half, 59-57. TBC answered back with a layup under the basket. With 15.6 seconds left on the clock and both teams tied up 59-59 and TBC possession, TBC called a timeout.
TBC found an open man under the basket and scored a layup, and took the lead 61-59. With 2.1 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles had only one opportunity.
Noah Rawlings lobbed a full-court pass to Woods, but Woods was unable to convert the pass to a basket. The Eagles lost to TBC in the final 2 seconds of the game.
Coach Goetsch shared his thoughts on the game: "I was happy with how our guys are learning to compete for 40 minutes. The game was close throughout and it forced them to stay engaged. It is a good step for this young team."
