They went on a 12-4 scoring run that brought them within 4 points of the Flames by the end of the first half. The Eagles held on to this intensity throughout a tight second half and kept the Flames within an arm's reach, only allowing their lead to reach 5 points.

Down by 5 with less than three minutes left, the Eagles' defense stepped up, holding the Flames' offense to just one point for the remainder of the game. With just twelve seconds left on the clock and the Eagles down by one point 71-72,
Deric Woods took one final shot attempt. Woods's mid-range jumper bounced off the rim just as the buzzer sounded, giving Welch the victory by a score of 72-71.
