The Eagles lost their closest game of the season to NCCAA opponent Welch College in a 1-point game, 71-72.
 
The Flames controlled the tempo for most of the first half, leading by as much as 12 at one point. The Eagles found their offensive rhythm in the final five minutes of the first half. They went on a 12-4 scoring run that brought them within 4 points of the Flames by the end of the first half. The Eagles held on to this intensity throughout a tight second half and kept the Flames within an arm's reach, only allowing their lead to reach 5 points.
 
Down by 5 with less than three minutes left, the Eagles' defense stepped up, holding the Flames' offense to just one point for the remainder of the game. With just twelve seconds left on the clock and the Eagles down by one point 71-72, Deric Woods took one final shot attempt. Woods's mid-range jumper bounced off the rim just as the buzzer sounded, giving Welch the victory by a score of 72-71.
 
John Clay and Deric Woods led the Eagles' offense by scoring a combined 37 points. Clay finished with 20 points, while Woods secured a double-double—17 points and 15 rebounds.
 
Next Game: The Eagles will come back from their Christmas break on January 7 and travel to Paragould, Arkansas, to face Crowley's Ridge College.
