It was the home opener for Wade Anderson's Shorter Hawks and the energy of the crowd fueled the Hawks as they consistently pushed the fast break and knocked down threes in the half court offense for a 97-84 win. The Hawks (2-3) jumped out to a 13-0 lead to begin the contest but the Eagles fought back to tie it at 23-23 with five minutes remaining in the half. The Hawks, however, didn't flinch as they finished the half with a 22-11 run and never looked back.
The Eagles (2-8), had a couple of young players step up with solid offensive performances.
Deric Woods (FR) had a solid inside present leading PCC with 26 points and 5 rebounds sending the Hawks big man to the bench early with five fouls.
Eric Evans (SO) poured in 25 points, 18 in the second half as he made 5 threes.
The Eagles return home this Saturday for a 3:00 PM contest against Talladega College.
