Nashville, TN - The final five minutes displayed how strong the Eagles can play going on an 18-12 run after being down 1 point with five minutes to go. The Eagles came away with a 93 – 85 victory over Welch College (1-1) to secure their first win of the season.
"We worked hard on the defensive end of the floor in the final five minutes, going one stretch with four stops in a row," stated Head Coach
Mark Goetsch. The Eagles also worked the ball on the offensive end going 5 of 6 possessions with threes.
John Clay dropped two from deep, and
Austin Lewis,
Eric Evans, and

The big finish didn't discount a tough night handling the ball as at times the Eagles struggled to maintain possession. "With 27 turnovers for the game, we've got some work to do in how we handle pressure," Goetsch added.
John Clay confirmed the Eagles' victory tonight when he took advantage of the 1-and-1 opportunities in the final moments from the free throw line.
The Eagles were led by junior
John Clay's 22 points, sophomore

Austin Lewis each knocked down 11 each. Several players also stopped the flow of offensive rebounds by Welch in the 2
nd half, as the Flames were held to just four offensive rebounds in the 2
