Eagles Win Regional Title and Head to National Tournament

| By:
Kissimmee, FL – After winning the NCCAA DII South Region Tournament against Bob Jones University on November 9th, the Eagles soccer team will be competing for a chance to win a national title this week.

The Eagles will be traveling to Kissimmee, FL where the NCCAA DII National Tournament will be held at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. Tournament pool play will be held from November 19th through the 21st, finishing with the championship game on the 23rd. The Eagles (#4 seed) will be kicking off the tournament against Randall University (#1 seed) at 2:00 pm central time today. The Eagles will then play against Maranatha Baptist University (#5 seed) at 2:00 pm central time on Thursday. The championship game will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00 pm central time between the top two teams of the tournament.

The Eagles will need to bring their best performance if they are wanting to return home with a national title. They will be facing their toughest matchups of the season, most of which who have also won regional titles.

Head Coach Joseph Liwosz shared his thoughts on how he believed his team would stack up against the competition. "It's difficult to assess how we matchup with teams that we never see in the regular season and they not play any of our familiar rivals. That can be a good thing though, since we can just focus on our style of play and try to execute our system of play, instead of worrying too much what's coming up on the other side."

The Eagles have seen many improvements throughout the season and have turned several weaknesses into strengths. When asked what strengths the Eagles possess going into this tournament, Head Coach Joseph Liwosz said this, "Our strengths all season long have been our discipline and our heart. Even when we get "punched", our guys are quick to get up and continue to fight. This is not a team that beat itself mentally and I consider that to be a major plus for us."

This tournament could go any direction with all the talent that each team will bring. Coach Joseph Liwosz shared his thoughts on how he believed the tournament would go for the Eagles, "This tournament is somewhat of a question mark to us. The only team that we have seen in previous years is Providence of Canada and they were a very tough team to beat back then and I expect that to be the same this year. Not only with Providence but with every single team in the tournament. In my mind, if they made it to Nationals they deserve to be here and they will play at a high level. We want to be the best we can be and I know in order to win it all we are going to have to be the best we have been all season long. We just want the guys to enjoy this opportunity to play a national tournament. We worked hard to get here and now is the time to show we deserve the national spotlight for the NCCAA. Teams are going to come hard at us and we just gotta be prepared, and I believe we are!"
