The Eagles bounced back after a disappointing performance Thursday night after the bench lifted the Eagles to an 87 – 72 victory over Brevard College (0-2).
Eric Evans (Jr, Charlotte, NC) returned to his home state and immediately felt at home knocking down five 3's and finishing with 27 points.
Austin Lewis (Fr. Pensacola, FL) also stepped up contributing 11 points. "Those two, along with
Elliott Lockett (Sr., Indianapolis, IN) who stepped into the starting line-up for injured
Noah Rawlings, played solid basketball tonight," stated Head Coach
Mark Goetsch.
Tonight was a different story over last night as the Eagles stepped on the floor ready to compete for 40 minutes. At the 10-minute mark of the first half, the Eagles trailed by 6, but finished the half with a 25-16 run to finish the half up three. "We struggled rebounding the ball in the first half giving up ten offensive rebounds along with some solid back door offense by the Tornadoes," added
Mark Goetsch.
The second half was all Eagles (2-6) raising the margin by 18 points at one point. In addition to Evan's 27 points,
John Clay added a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists, Lewis – 11 pts, and Coty Pratt rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points. "It was good to see a solid team performance and these guys have a lot of fun when they play together. Proof came in 22 of their 33 baskets being assisted," finished
Mark Goetsch.
The Eagles get right back after it Monday night in West Point, GA taking on Point University before heading to Rome, GA and taking on Wade Anderson (former PCC Eagle) at Shorter University on Tuesday night. Both game times are 7:00 PM EST.
