Lady Eagles Make a Comeback Against PRCC

In one of the most exciting volleyball matches of the season, the Lady Eagles rallied from two sets down to beat Pearl River 3-2 in a tiebreaker set.

Sets 1 and 2 were very similar; both involved back-and-forth scoring for most of the set until Pearl River managed to go on a scoring streak near the end of each and pull ahead just enough to win both of them 25-20.

Coach Calyn Ohman siad, "I was a little nervous going into the third set. There was a miscommunication when the lineup was submitted and our girls had to play in positions that they weren't used to playing in. They adjusted well and were able to overcome the position mix up. This position mix up actually helped improve our team chemistry because it forced us to communicate more than the first two sets. Going into the third set, we adjusted our offense and defense strategies."

The Lady Eagles held their ground in the third set, refusing to lose, they played skillfully and won it 25-23. Baylee Jensen led the team in kills (16) and blocks (4), while Brooke McLeod assisted from behind the service line with 5 aces. Coach Ohman said, " Winning that 3rd set was the turning point for our team. It gave us a boost of confidence and a realization that we can compete with this team."

The Lady Eagles carried their momentum into the fourth set, and after a few scoring streaks of their own they pulled away to win it 25-18. The 5th set was close at the start, but the Lady Eagles pulled away to win it 15-8; thereby securing their 8th victory of the season. Coach Ohman Said, "The fourth and fifth sets werent easy, but each team member worked hard together to get the win."
