Eagles Basketball Team Drops Season Opener

The men's basketball team opened the season on the road against strong NAIA powerhouse, Talladega College (3-0).  The young Eagles struggled from the beginning against the highly talented Tornadoes dropping 57 against their opponent who scored 136.  Coach Goetsch said, "This young group of guys was amped up and ready to go after solid practices this week with freshmen and transfers ready to show what they had for the college level game.  We got good looks at the basket all night long when we moved the ball, but oft times, the pressure was intense and we held the ball or tried to dribble too much to create offense.  When the guys trusted each other, we got the looks we were after."

The Eagles were led by Junior John Clay with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshmen guards Joshua Alexander and Christian Porter contributed solid pressure defense.

Next up for the Eagles is Welch College in Nashville.  Game time is 7:00 PM in Nashville.
