The Lady Eagles lost both matches in straight sets and fell to 13-10 overall and 8-3 in SOUTH Region play. The Lady Eagles completed 49 kills in 187 total attacks.
Florida College
The Lady Eagles fell to Florida College in straight sets 3-0 (15-25, 21-25, 11-25) in the first match of today's road tri-match.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a fast start against Florida College, but were unable to secure the 1st set, losing 15-25. In the 2nd set, the team was unable to win despite leading 16-10 and 21-19 over the Falcons. Florida College battled back and scored the final 6 points on their way to a 25-21 victory.
The final set went the Falcons way. The Lady Eagles were unable to tame a talented Florida College attack. The team recorded 23 kills but had 22 errors for a hitting percentage of .011 compared to .241 for Florida College. Catherine Truehart led the Falcons with 7 kills in the match.
University of Mobile
Looking for their first victory of the day, the Lady Eagles faced the University of Mobile, but again fell in straight sets to the Rams, 3-0 (18-25, 14-25, 17-25).
The team was unable to handle a strong Rams attack headline by Mirella Gatterdam and Anna Claire Harris who combined for 23 of their teams 39 kills.
Despite early kills by
Natasha Dickerman and
Ginger Cannon, the Lady Eagles were unable to put together a strong offensive attack in the first set and fell 18-25. The 2nd set was close in the early stages, but a 7-0 run by the Rams sunk the Lady Eagles who lost set number two 14-25.
In the final set, the Lady Eagles battled the Rams but were unable to put together a strong offensive attack against the home team who secured 13 blocks in the game.
The team had 26 kills on 87 total attacks. Their hitting percentage in the contest was .069 compared to .326 for the Rams. University of Mobile outside hitter Mirella Gatterdam led all players with 13 kills in the match.
