PENSACOLA, Florida–Trailing by two sets, the Lady Eagles fought back to force a 4th set against Huntingdon College, but the Lady Eagles comeback attempt would come up just short in today's four set loss.
Baylee Jensen led the Lady Eagles with 10 kills in the match while
Piper Bledsoe recorded 13 assists in the 4-set loss. The team finished the match with a .092 hitting percentage.
The two teams played a closely contest 1st set. The Lady Eagles were tied with the visiting Huntingdon Hawks late in the sets, but the Hawks offense proved to be too much in a 25-21 set loss. Heading into the 2nd set, the team hoped to secure a needed set victory, but a hot start by the Hawks dashed those hopes. The Lady Eagles would go on to fall 25-7 in the 2nd set and trailed 2-0 in the match.
In the 3rd set, the Lady Eagles hit their stride. The team stormed out to a late advantage behind the play of middle hitter
Baylee Jensen who would finish the game with 10 kills and 5 blocks. Junior captain
Anna Grace Carrick was huge for the Lady Eagles in today's match. Her 23 successful serve receptions and 9 digs both led the team in the match. The Lady Eagles went on to secure a 25-22 3rd set victory to stay alive.
Riding the momentum that they had created in the 3rd set, the Lady Eagles jumped out to an early advantage, but it was the Hawks who against put together a strong service run. The team was able to counter, but Huntingdon College ultimately proved to be too much for the Lady Eagles who would lose the match 3-1.
