Stephen Halsey was born and raised right here in Pensacola, FL. Halsey’s parents both worked at PCC, allowing Stephen to attend both Pensacola Christian Academy and Pensacola Christian College. And now, he has the opportunity to serve the PCC Eagles as the Andrews Institute Athletic Trainer.
Halsey completed his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy from Pensacola Christian College in May of 2012. Three years later, Stephen graduated with another Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree from University of West Florida in May of 2015. And to finish his education, Halsey graduated May 2019 with a Master of Science in Applied Exercise Science, Concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Concordia University Chicago.
After the completion of his college education, Halsey did not stop there. Over the years he has accumulated almost 10 certifications in the athletic training department. These certificates range from Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), EXOS-Certified Performance Specialist (XPS), and many more. These certifications have led Stephen to become an incredibly qualified and overly successful trainer for the PCC Eagles program.
Before college and the athletic training began, Halsey attended Pensacola Christian Academy. While he was in high school, he participated in track and field, pole vault, and cross-country. His most successful sport was pole vaulting, where he found himself in the state finals in his senior season.
While Halsey works as the Athletic Trainer for the PCC Eagles, he is technically employed by Andrews Institute, Sports Medicine. When asked about his job choice Halsey said, “I grew up here, my parents worked here, and I got the opportunity from Andrews to take this position with the PCC Eagles.”
Stephen Halsey’s life verse is Psalm 37:3-5. Which says “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
While attending PCC Halsey met his wife Christina, and they now have 3 beautiful children. When Halsey is not in his training room, you may find him disc golfing, rock climbing, or woodworking.
