Joseph Liwosz

Joe Liwosz enters his 9th season as the head coach of the Eagles men’s soccer team, continuing to shape a program known for both competitive excellence and a strong spiritual foundation. Guided by God’s clear direction, Joe and his wife felt called to Pensacola to make a meaningful impact on college students through the game he loves.

In his very first year, Coach Liwosz led a young and developing team to its first National Championship, a milestone that launched a tradition of success. Since then, his leadership has brought home 3 National Championships, 3 regional titles, and deepened the bonds within the program, evident in the recent 2025 alumni soccer match, where former players had the opportunity to reunite on campus with their families and old friends.

The core values of Coach Liwosz’s program focus on authenticity and integrity. He encourages his players to “be real” by living consistently on and off the field, maintaining a Christ-centered testimony in all areas of life. Every player is held accountable to represent the team, the college, their families, and most importantly, God.

Team chemistry and leadership flourish under a culture of accountability and genuine relationships. Coach Liwosz relies heavily on his captains and team leaders to uphold expectations and fosters unity through shared meals and team activities both on and off campus. A strong preseason emphasis on culture sets clear standards for the entire season.

A native of Bay Village, Ohio, Coach Liwosz has played soccer at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. His coaching experience began in high school with youth and adult indoor teams. Since returning to PCC in 2012, he has earned 3 regional championships, 3 national titles, 3 national Coach of the Year awards (2017, 2019, 2023), as well as the USC Staff of the Year (2017) and NISOAA Sportsmanship Award (2017). The team also achieved a National Runner-Up finish in 2020.

Drawing on his own experience as a student-athlete, Coach Liwosz values discipline and hard work as essential traits. His return to PCC was a purposeful response to a calling to mentor and minister to young men, using both soccer and faith to encourage their growth. Along with his wife, he is dedicated to positively influencing the lives of students both on and off the field.

Life Verses:
Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” This verse is a constant reminder that God is sovereign over every circumstance.

Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” This verse, found in his grandfather’s study notes with the phrase “The Higher the Fewer,” inspires endurance and strength through trials, serving as a motivational motto for him and his teams.
